Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

The EYFS sets standards for the learning, development and care of your child from 3 to 5 years old.

The school offers the British Early Years Foundation Stage programme for FS1/Pre-K and FS 2/KG1 (ages 3 - 5 years).

Between the ages of 3-6 children posses an absorbent mind, the ability to absorb all aspects of one’s culture and environment without effort or fatigue.

All our staff have a deep understanding of child development and have been thoroughly trained to guide children towards productive and challenging experiences, both individually and collectively, that will provide a firm foundation of skills to serve them for life.

The EYFS is broad and balanced, it is divided into seven areas of learning. There are three Prime Areas and four Specific areas each having set of developmental steps and ‘Early Learning Goals’ which determine what children are expected to achieve by the end of the Foundation Stage.

English National Curriculum

Children in Year 1/ KG2, (age 5 - 6) will follow the English National Curriculum. This curriculum sets high standards in language, literacy emphasising phonic awareness. There is an additional emphasis on mathematical skills and science.  Supplementary subjects like geography, computing, music and physical education are also offered.

Children are guided towards these goals using various methods, providing a stimulating classroom environment, giving demonstrations, checking understanding and providing whole class, group and individual practice in using and applying skills and knowledge. This is a hands-on approach that develops learning skills through active learning, routine and self-directive choices.
